En español decimos «Me corto el pelo» aunque lo haga el peluquero. En inglés eso sería raro: «I cut my hair» significa que te lo cortas tú. Para decir que otra persona lo hace por ti (normalmente un servicio) se usa la forma causativa: «I have my hair cut». Es una estructura muy típica en los ejercicios de transformación de la PAU.
Objetivos
- Formar la estructura causativa have + objeto + participio en todos los tiempos
- Usar get something done en registro informal
- Expresar experiencias negativas con have something done (He had his phone stolen)
- Distinguir make, let, have y get someone (to) do something
1. La estructura
sujeto + have (en cualquier tiempo) + objeto + participio
| Tiempo | Ejemplo |
|---|---|
| Present simple | We have the windows cleaned twice a year. |
| Present continuous | I’m having my bike repaired. |
| Past simple | She had her portrait painted. |
| Present perfect | They have had the kitchen renovated. |
| Future | I’ll have the documents translated. |
| going to | He’s going to have his tooth taken out. |
2. Usos y variantes
- get something done: igual que have, más informal. «I need to get my phone fixed.»
- Experiencias desagradables (alguien te lo hizo sin pedirlo): «He had his wallet stolen on the metro.»
- Las preguntas y negativas en present y past simple necesitan do / did: «Where do you have your hair cut?», «I didn’t have it done.»
Paso a paso: «Someone is going to paint our house.» → We…
- Tiempo de la frase original: going to.
- have en ese tiempo: are going to have.
- objeto + participio: our house painted.
We are going to have our house painted.
3. make, let, have y get someone (to) do
| Verbo | Estructura | Significado | Ejemplo |
|---|---|---|---|
| make | make + persona + infinitivo sin to | obligar | The teacher made us repeat the test. |
| let | let + persona + infinitivo sin to | dejar, permitir | My parents let me go to the concert. |
| have | have + persona + infinitivo sin to | encargar (algo a alguien) | I’ll have the receptionist call you. |
| get | get + persona + to + infinitivo | convencer, conseguir que | I got my brother to help me. |
Recuerda
- Causativa: have / get + objeto + participio = otra persona lo hace por mí.
- have se conjuga en todos los tiempos; el objeto va entre have y el participio.
- También sirve para experiencias negativas: She had her bag stolen.
- make / let / have + persona + infinitivo sin to; get + persona + to + infinitivo.
