Sustantivos contables e incontables: la comida

Sustantivos contables e incontables con el vocabulario de la comida: a / an, some / any, how much / how many, a lot of y envases (a bottle of). Inglés de 1.º de ESO.

En inglés, algunos sustantivos se pueden contar (an apple, two apples) y otros no (water, rice, bread). Esta diferencia decide qué palabra usas delante: a, some, any, much o many. Es imprescindible para hacer la lista de la compra o pedir en un restaurante.

Objetivos

  • Distinguir sustantivos contables e incontables
  • Usar a / an, some y any con cada tipo
  • Preguntar por cantidades con how much y how many
  • Expresar cantidades con a lot of y con envases (a bottle of, a piece of…)

1. Contables e incontables

Contable: Se puede contar y tiene plural: an egg, three eggs; a banana, some bananas.

Incontable: No se cuenta por unidades y no tiene plural: water, milk, bread, rice, cheese, sugar, meat, pasta.

2. a / an, some y any

3. Cantidades: how much / how many, a lot of y envases

  • How many + contable plural: How many eggs do we need?
  • How much + incontable: How much milk is there?
  • a lot of con los dos: a lot of apples, a lot of water.
  • En negativa: not many (contables), not much (incontables): There isn’t much sugar.

Recuerda

  • Incontables: sin plural y sin a / an (water, bread, rice).
  • some en afirmativa; any en negativa y pregunta (some al ofrecer o pedir).
  • How many + plural; How much + incontable.
  • a lot of con ambos; un envase permite contar: two bottles of water.
